Rob at Workplace Chemistry has completed a number of projects for me at the Lynas Rare Earth Central Laboratory in Malaysia. The last project was assisting to re-develop and validate our Rare Earth ICP methods from scratch on two new non-industry standard ICPOES equipment. Rob is one of the few remaining “Classical Chemists” with good ICP instrument experience as well as solid classical chemistry acumen and is able to formulate and validate methods from the ground up in any industry. Rob has a great personality and has a no nonsense approach to getting in and getting the job done even if it means getting your hands dirty. This allows for him to be very successful without waiting on resources. Rob works well in teams as well and is highly respected and missed by our Lab team. He helped to train the team on completion of the ICP Project and is able to train and converse well with staff and the production team at all levels even where English is not their first language.

In my capacity as the Project Manager for an emerging environmental monitoring technique for the Oil & Gas industry in remote Papua New Guinea, I needed to find a Technical Specialist to be on the ground with a practical approach and can do attitude. I was delighted when Rob Rowland, of Workplace Chemistry was introduced to me and came on board. His hard work, professionalism and approach to the role was admired by all involved and Rob’s technical knowledge and expertise ensured the project was a success from day one.
